9th International Biennial Of Photography And Visual Arts - Liège
Zoé VAN DER HAEGEN (B) (Cambridge, 1977) is a young upcoming artist-photographer who at the moment receives an art residency in Liege to work on the city’s world-renowned collections of religious art.
Currently living in Brussels, she focuses on strict and constant research on “the perfect distance” and the art of photography as a question asked to the photograph itself. The spaces and areas on which she bases her work – significant of a territorially and historically rooted culture (or nature) – constitute the starting point of a process where the image is situated in the ambiguity of the crossroads of the real and the imaginary.
Throughout her residency, Zoé VAN DER HAEGEN will explore various pieces from Liège’s collection of religious art – be they exceptional or forgotten, magical or mundane – and suggest new and updated interpretations.
