EVERMORE – Patrick Everaert

Espace 251 Nord presents a solo exhibition by Patrick Everaert, a Belgian visual artist who has been producing unique images for nearly twenty-five years. Following an inexplicable instinct, he finds and keeps photos which he then uses to recompose new images that are brimming with potential mystery, objects that may or may not be what they seem, conveyors of distance and suspension that force the spectator to rethink the concept of “seeing”. Although all the elements of his reconstructed photographs are perfectly recognizable, the overall meaning of what we see in them remains deeply enigmatic. The disturbing strangeness reigns supreme. In an era of speed and abundance, a time of over-simplification and widespread manipulation, Patrick Everaert gives us the unknown, the unstable, the otherness of the visible.
