9th International Biennial Of Photography And Visual Arts - Liège
The bourgeois atmosphere of the Ansembourg Museum, an eighteenth century mansion, will serve as the backdrop for reflection on virtual reality, illusion and emptiness. Resolutely oriented towards (post) modernity, the selection presented at the Ansembourg Museum will starkly contrast with the listed, traditional and baroque setting.
Videos, digital art, projections and visual installations will form a whole where the issue of the screen and its mirror effect, as well as its tremendous power to engulf us in a second reality, prevail.
In the rooms of the Ansembourg Museum, the visitor will also have the opportunity to discover the Sacré photographic series by Matthieu Gafsou (CH), a disturbing plunge into the cold ritualized images of Christianity and their end-of-the-world atmosphere. Finally, Djos Janssens (B) will take over the numerous mirrors to once again interrogate the evidence of reflections, literal as well as metaphorical.
Mesmerizing and deceptive, the MIRAGES exhibition hopes to reflect our hesitation in interpreting the different types of media discourse that surround us – devastating, deadly, fascinating and creators of a new reality.
