On her work, the artist says : « I am fascinated by relationships between people, the physical closeness between them or what sets them apart, and the nescessity of this physical proximity to others. The most fragile contact and elusive things between people often seem to exist beyond the reach of language. This is what I try to capture in my images. My work is about Thresholds and Transitions within and between people. The child on the threshold of the adult world, and the thresholds between individuals. Inextricably bound up with these thresholds, are the transitions in a human life.

For the series "First Loves" I made double portraits of boys and girls between the age of ten and twelve who were in a couple. I was interested in capturing something so vulnerable and fleeting: they belong together by dint of a agreement, but are unable to put this idea into practice, because they are still in their childhood. In most cases at this age this “being in a couple” only exists at school. Because I isolated them by photographing them in their home setting, they were dependent only on each other for the first time. »
