Since 1993, Jean-Claude Delalande (Paris, 1962, graduate from the school of photography MI 21, living and working in Bourg-la-Reine) takes a malignant pleasure in putting himself in his work along with his partner and son Valentin.

Thirty years of loyal service in an Italian insurance company never distracted him from his passion for photography and the desire to freeze moments of his life.
His pleasure in creating these sketches is rivalled only by his love for his family; yet with these pictures, where the gazes of the characters never meet, where boredom, confinement, the desire to escape a rather dreary day-to-day routine, even the desire to murder, are ubiquitous, the photographer leaves us sceptical about his intentions.

With his gaze fixed on the lens, he challenges the viewer and places him in a position which is often uncomfortable – that of the inconvenient witness or the accomplice of the scene being played out.

Then, a dramaturgy settles over the series, expanding year by year and which shows a couple aging and a little boy growing up in small, often renovated, sets; the viewer may well wonder whether they are holiday homes or torture chambers.
This family album - with its clockwork images, where every detail is important and where light, often imperceptible, plays a key role - will leave a trace of a past which it does not want to be remembered and which it will bequeath to its descendants.
