Sandra Ancelot is a plastician, particularly intrigued by the play of light and colour. She has already exhibited in Liège (MAmAc, 2006) and as part of the collective event “Dis-moi +” (Les Brasseurs, 2004) at the Marchin Cultural Centre (with Michel Leonardi). Her work is regularly shown both in France and abroad. A resident artist at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Rueil-Malmaison, she teaches plastic arts (contemporary art) at the Ecole d’Architecture de Paris Val-de-Seine.
If many projects have seen her closely involved in design, interior architecture and the creation of objects and items of furniture, she is also a video director. Her work thus readily questions - elliptically, exquisitely, quirkily, sometimes repetitively, and by using some elementary, albeit circuitous, symbols - the stereotypes associated with today’s woman, the expression of femininity in our society, or the gap between personal aspirations and actual achievements.
