After studying Economic Science at Louvain, Anne-Catherine Chevalier graduated as an MBA (INSEAD, Fontainebleau) before going on to work as a management consultant for ten years. She then set up a design company, working primarily in designing offices and private houses.

After pursuing this activity for ten years, she decided to devote herself to photography, enrolled at the “75” in Brussels and attended courses (notably those run by Marina Cox and Mary Ellen Mark). Her interest focuses essentially on the portrait and contemporary society issues. The recent “Mothers & Daughters” series (2009-2010) questioned the relationship between mother and daughter and, more particularly, the passing on of femininity from one generation to another. One of the images in the series, Madeleine et Adèle, was selected for the annual Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize in 2010 awarded by the National Portrait Gallery in London; her first book has just been published by Lannoo.
