My work explores the theme of “those others that we are” when we look at ourselves in a mirror. What are we looking for? What do we want to see? Is the mirror a lie that tells the truth?

A mirror does more than simply reflect: it offers, suggests, sublimates, and alters.

When we stand before it, are we seeking to see ourselves, to recognize ourselves, or to reinvent ourselves?

The image it reflects oscillates between reality and fiction—that is, between what is and what we hope to be. In this series, the mirror is a space that creates tension within the portrait. Between reality and desire, between presence and illusion, it is both surface and depth, boundary and passage. The figures that appear embody these versions of ourselves.

These “others” that we are are the shifting, plural, imagined, contradictory identities that coexist within each of us. The mirror creates them, reveals them…

Looking, looking at oneself, thus becomes a unique, shifting, and uncertain experience: who is observing and who is being observed?
