Featured artists: Louise Narbo and Michel Beine

As part of BIP OFF, the off-site exhibition series of the 2026 Biennale de l’image possible, the Christine Colon Gallery invites you to discover an exhibition featuring photographers Louise Narbo and Michel Beine from November 7 to 29, 2026. Through their respective practices, Louise Narbo explores the theme of the transfigured portrait, where montages and portraits converge in a search for identity and an inquiry into the genesis of the individual, while Michel Beine explores a vintage Americana through Polaroid shots.

As part of the BIP OFF circuit for the 2026 edition of the Biennale de l’image possible, the Christine Colon Gallery invites you to discover an exhibition featuring photographers Louise Narbo and Michel Beine from November 7 to 29, 2026.

Louise Narbo is a photographer-author. Born in Algiers (Algeria), she lives and works in Paris. Louise Narbo’s portraits are astonishing: they arise from a desire to challenge appearances and, through deconstruction, offer representations of the inner world and its emotions.

When faced with a photographic portrait, this artist seeks out latent figures that might emerge by chance or intuition. Making them visible, glimpsing these few traces in a visionary photograph, “unveiling the mystery and phosphorescence found deep within every person,” as Patrick Modiano wrote in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech regarding the role of the artist.

Michel Beine, born in Brussels in 1967, holds a degree in photography from the Institut Saint-Luc in Liège, where he now teaches, explores, through a quasi-documentary practice, the elements that convey a sense of American-ness, where vintage aesthetics and vestiges of a bygone era are imprinted on the surface of the Polaroid, true fragments of a cultural and social phenomenon that has swept through urban areas across the Atlantic. Through the use of the Polaroid, the artist seeks to reveal the fragility and evanescence of what was once called the American Dream. These final, poignant moments when the twilight of carefree days has veiled, not without nostalgia, the icons of an era.
