Featured Artist: Mireille Merveille
One autumn evening, abandoned on the pavement, a set of slides from the 1970s. Collected by the artist, these anonymous memories become the starting point for a metamorphosis. Mireille Bailly — under her creative alter ego Mireille Merveille — engages in an anachronistic dialogue.
By artisanally rephotographing these old media by the light of a bedside lamp, the artist creates a genuine temporal stratification. From this luminous superimposition emerge strange compositions, tinged with the supernatural, transforming these forgotten fragments of life into a poetic relic.
An actress and author on the Belgian stage for over 30 years, Mireille Bailly has been developing the visual universe of “Mireille Merveille” since 2020. Exploring various media — painting, collage, photography — she asserts herself as a young artist of a certain age, contrary to her future.
