The search for meaning often unfolds in the space between who we think we are and who we present to the outside world. Identity is not a fixed given, but emerges through continuous interaction with others, with our environment, and with our intuition.

A Poem Made of Leaves departs from the ideas of Nathalie Sarraute and her concept of tropisms: subtle, often unconscious inner movements that guide our actions. The exhibition explores the tension between the “authentic” and the “performed” self, and raises the question of whether these two can ever truly be separated. Where does genuine experience reside within this overlap?

Five artists bring personal stories into relation with shared, collective identities. Their work draws on memories, archives, and fragments of experience that resist linear narratives. Emotional knowledge and embodied experience take precedence over unambiguous logic. The result is a series of intimate works in which the personal and the universal flow into one another.

Cultural background plays a crucial role in the way identity is formed. Through folklore, popular culture, archetypes, and fictional figures, the artists question the social roles assigned to them. In doing so, they open up new ways of thinking about identity beyond fixed cultural frameworks.
