Tatiana Bohm, Les instruments de l'esclavage

Espace 251 Nord

L'or des fous

Featured Artist: Tatiana Bohm

The exhibition brings together reinterpretations of Théodore de Bry’s engravings depicting the discovery of the “New World” in the 15th century, as well as caricatures that blend portraits of businesspeople and politicians with 17th-century illustrations taken from Jacob Gole’s work *The Overthrow of Christian Morality by the Disorder of Monarchism*.

It also features *Sonne le glas* (*The Death Knell*), a central sound and kinetic installation in the exhibition. It consists of more than 100 shell casings and weight-driven clock mechanisms that mark the rhythm of souls and appeal to the senses. Finally, beneath the foundations of Western imperialism lie the buried bodies of the fallen. These are charcoal drawings of skulls and emaciated bodies created between 2025 and 2026.
